My first sale was a few years back, and it wasn't much - just a DIY article that appeared in an obscure magazine supplement. But the feeling of seeing what I had written published gave me such a thrill. And they paid me for it too!
When I'm feeling a little down about my writing, I think back to that first sale and it picks me right up again.

I first published poetry then for the last two years have written DIY articles and pieces for home decoration for Renovate. I am so unlikely looking too... just a scrap of a girl, but I do know how to lay ceramic tiles now and wallpaper a stairwell! If I had to that is... but getting paid for it was the bonus because it meant I could actually write! Thank god for the people at Bunnings and the local hardware store!
Good to know another DIY guy! |

Two clever people! I wish someone would pay me for what I write, but you see I'm not dedicated enough to do anything with my stuff. A bit flighty, I am! Just write because I like to - sometimes.
